Fear of Failure Survivor

"I'm scared to try cause I'm scared to fail"

- Fear by Jazmine Sullivan

I have lived in that condition all of my life until this year at the age of 37 years old.  I made the decision to move forward with my life by acknowledging the fact that I had failed at my marriage.  After moving out, living on my own for the first time EVER with my daughter I was pushed into reality.  Officially making public the ugliness of my failure - I learned that failing at my marriage wasn't the end of my world.  Once I wiped the tears, took a deep breath and gazed into the mirror -  I was relieved.

I no longer had to "appear" as others wanted me to be with my family, friends or co-workers. I could literally find myself again as a human being and not a role.  The need to be perfect was exhausting. No one is perfect.  And I was far from it.

As I approach my seventh month of living on my own:

*I can say that I have a healthier relationship with food with a weight loss of thirty pounds since food became my best friend in those last four years of marraige.*

*I can say that my prayer life has taken an upgrade from circumstantial talks to long length daily conversations with God.*

* I can say that my confidence is building more as I accomplish the task of managing my household on a fixed income where the numbers just dont add up with my expenses.*

*I can say that my ability to play it safe is no longer an option since my faith has increased and my fears are slowly decreasing.*

I am a fear of failure survivor.

What are your fears? Isn't it time to overcome them.

MAM Alert: Target + Neiman Marcus

What is there NOT to love about Target?  Let me add to the "must love" list of Target but letting you in on a GREAT secret: Target & Neiman Marcus have teamed up with some award winning designers to create a Christmas Look Book, available December 1st!  I couldn't resist not announcing it to the world because Target is my favorite place to shop and Neiman Marcus is my favorite place to look. LOL!

Check out my top favorite items:

#1 The Philip Crangi Frame $49.99
Anyone who knows me KNOWS that I love picture frames.  Check out my wall in my home and it's filled with them so when I saw this hardware on this frame - instant fatal attraction. :)

#2 Brian Atwood Leather Gloves $49.99
Speechless.....no need for a fancy manicure when you have these gloves.

#3 Derek Lam Slippers  $49.99
I love ALL things animal print so this obviously have to land on my favorites list.

#4 Skaist-Taylor Vest $79.99
I am hoping that they will have this in my size. If not, shame on them. If so, hooray for me!

#5 The Philip Crangi Trinket Box $69.99
What would I put in it? I really dont know but it makes an interesting conversation piece.

#6 Lela Rose Dress $99.99
I love the silhouette on this dress. It would be perfect for a night out on the town. Reminds of a "sex and the city" moment.

Winter Essentials 2012

My essentials for the winter are simple - trendy yet classic.  As a reader you are going to know my favorite hot spots for style which tends to be budget friendly.   ASHLEY STEWART is a haven for trendy items that can cross generations.  I wouldnt suggest ANYTHING as an essential if I didnt have them in my own closet.  (Check out the pics down below.)

#1 - Any form of a knee boot is necessary for any outfit during the winter season.  Legs aren't meant to just walk you from place to place but they are to create the entrance into a room.  If you purchase a neutral color they can go with practically anything.  These pair are at Ashley Stewart for only $59.50 come in WIDE SIZES.

#2 - The assymetrical jacket is a trend that has emerged for the winter wardrobe lineup.  I identified several locations that carry this type of jacket with a price range from $90-$110. Happy Shopping!

#3 - The patterned pants is the HOTT thing for the winter.  Nothing too flashy as a top because the patterned pants will do ALL of the talking.  There are several options at Ashley Stewart in pants and jegging forms.  Enjoy the selection that is priced from $15-$30.

#4 - Not all handbags are equal dependent on the purpose.  For a stylish, functional handbag you must determine the longetivity that you desire.  Personally I love a bargin BUT sometimes you have to pay that extra to get some years out of it.  I am so "rough & hard" on my handbags I tend to spend the extra dollars to get more wear out of them.  The #4 gem I found at Ashley Stewart was love at first sight.  of course when I ventured to the store to purchase it - sold out!  I guess I wasn't the only person searching for a great winter essential. Priced at $50........

My Personal Finds:

I found this jacket two years ago at Lane Bryant on clearance for $40.  I knew that it would be a trendsetter for the future.

These pants are a real steal for only $13 on clearance at Ashley Stewart during their Friends & Family Weekend.  The detail of these pants left me speechless. I cannot wait to wear them & show you how I rocked them.

When I saw them they were love at first wear.  I love the sole of them, not typical for a knee high boot. LOVE LOVE LOVE! Lane Bryant has these for only $79.95
